Privacy Policy
Effective and last updated: 31 August 2026
1. What We Collect
We collect account and contact data; password hashes and authentication identifiers; profile, rating and language data; identity documents and a live selfie submitted for verification; orders, trips, routes, dates, weights, prices, cargo and recipient data; handover acts, delivery-code and QR events; complaints, disputes, reviews and moderation records; chat and attached files while a Deal is active; live location during an active delivery and the arrival event; push tokens; and security/technical data such as IP address, device, browser, app version and logs. We do not need or store a plain-text password.
2. Live Location Data — Privacy by Design
When location sharing is active during a delivery, CargoGo is built to store and retain that location data only for as long as it is needed to support the active delivery and any immediately-following dispute window — it is not kept as a permanent location history of your movements. This ephemeral-by-design handling is a deliberate choice to minimize how much location data CargoGo holds about you.
3. Why We Collect It
We process your data to: provide the core service (matching Senders and Carriers, managing Orders/Trips/Deals, enabling chat and handover confirmation); support safety and dispute resolution (handover-act records, delivery-code verification, complaint/dispute review); prevent fraud and abuse (detecting suspicious accounts or behavior); and send you service-related notifications. We do not sell your personal data.
4. Data Retention
Active Deal chat messages are erased from the server as part of the transaction that completes that Deal. Location points are temporary and are not maintained as a permanent movement history. Account data is kept while the account exists; an account-deletion request deactivates it immediately and schedules permanent deletion after the stated cooling-off period. Verification material, handover acts, complaints, fraud and security records may be retained only for the period reasonably required by applicable law, legal claims, safety, audit and fraud prevention, then deleted or anonymized. A legal preservation request may temporarily suspend deletion of the relevant record.
5. Who We Share Data With
With your Deal counterparty: when you form a Deal, the other party receives the information needed to complete the handover — such as your display name and contact details relevant to the handoff. With service providers that help us operate CargoGo: an SMTP email provider for account and delivery-code emails, Expo's push notification service for mobile notifications, and, where automatic translation is enabled by the operator, a translation service for in-app chat/content translation. If and when in-app payments are enabled, a payment processor will be added and disclosed here with its own data-handling terms. We do not share your data with third parties for their own marketing purposes.
6. Your Rights
You have the right to access, correct, delete, and export your own data. You can view and edit your profile information directly in the app. You can export a copy of your own data (profile, orders, trips, deals, reviews, notifications) at any time from Settings using the "Export my data" option, which compiles your data into a downloadable file. You can request deletion of your account at any time from Settings using the "Delete my account" option; this begins the account-deletion process described in Section 4.
7. Children's Privacy
CargoGo is not directed at children and is not intended for use by anyone under 18, consistent with the age-eligibility requirement in the Terms of Service. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have done so, we will delete that account and its data.
8. Contact Us
